“Are you mad?” Cycling Normandy with two toddlers

“Are you mad?” asked a fellow guest at our campsite, on hearing my sister and I were mid-way through a long-distance cycle ride with our three-year-olds. Possibly. But Normandy’s Véloscénic route makes a persuasive case for madness: green folding over green, Percheron horses knee-deep in wildflowers, villages with roses against the boulangerie, and cider that’s been pressed here since the middle ages. Sid rode behind me the whole way. I wrote about how we did it – the route, the campsites, what toddlers actually make of bocage country – for The Guardian.
